Welcome To Our School

A Warm Welcome to our Website!

At George Dixon Primary School, we are proud to welcome children from all around the world.  Our vibrant school is known in our community for being a warm and caring school where we work together with families to create an ethos of excellence and enjoyment built on a passion for learning.

We are privileged to have wonderful caring children, supportive parents, a committed governing body and a hard-working and enthusiastic staff whose efforts are underpinned by the drive to see every child achieve success in a supportive and stimulating environment.

We want to challenge our children to become independent, well-rounded individuals who take ownership of their learning and become deep thinkers. It is important for our children to be able to apply their knowledge and skill set in a range of contexts within school and real life. We are developing our curriculum to nurture curiosity and creativity, with exciting, relevant learning experiences. It is designed to provide children with the essential knowledge, skills and understanding that they require to be ready for their next stage in learning, as citizens of Great Britain and the wider world.

The children and staff have worked hard to develop our school values, which we call the 7C’s: care, commitment, courtesy, courage, consideration, cooperation and communication.  These 7C’s underpin everything we do at George Dixon Primary; they determine how we approach our learning and interact with others.  We believe that they make our school a better place to be alongside the British Values of democracy, individual liberty, tolerance, mutual respect and the rule of law.

We place an emphasis on children’s views and opinions and believe in empowering children to become independent learners who influence decisions about their school and their learning.  Our School Council works with the school leaders and governors to continue to improve our school.

I hope you will find our website a helpful way to get to know our school and we look forward to meeting you soon.
